A Year in Review

Poker Power's President, Erin Lydon reflects on the impressive milestones and learnings 2022 brought to our community.
Happy Holidays

I write this holiday message from the Wynn Las Vegas, where we are celebrating this year’s Women in Poker Hall of Fame inductees. There is much momentum with women succeeding at the table, and our empowered community is a big part of that progress! As we emerge from the pandemic and sit once again beside our colleagues, friends, and family, I want to reflect on our success and exciting plans for 2023 and invite you to continue learning and laughing with us.

First, I must thank each of you for being a part of our community–we have accomplished much together since our founding in 2020. Our visionary founder Jenny Just tasked us to imagine a world where it is not just our sons who play the game, but also our daughters. With your support, we are committed to delivering on that vision and mission every day.

2022 has been a year of leaning into what we do best, and I am so grateful to our incredible team, instructors and advisors who truly are the secret sauce of Poker Power. Each and every day, our team brings us closer to our goal: teaching one million girls and women how to think, strategize, negotiate and take risks, like a winning poker player. We couldn’t be where we are today without our amazing team!

I am pleased to share that our community now spans 40 countries with over 150 partners including Fortune 500s, universities and non-profits. We value every person who learns, laughs and competes at our table. Whether you’ve joined us in our weekly classes, through our learn & earn modules on Zogo, or in virtual or in-person corporate workshops, your commitment to flipping the table with us makes a difference. We are especially proud of our partnership with Global Give Back Circle, an organization that enables us to bring the game-changing strategies of poker to high school girls across Kenya and beyond.

As many of you know, our tech team under the talented direction of AJ Rudolph, launched a first-of-its-kind, gender-neutral teaching app. Poker Power Play will become the hub of our community and gameplay in 2023. We invite you to install it and experience it for yourself. We will continue to offer weekly virtual classes as well as incorporating learn-on-your-own modules in our app. Our partnerships that bring in-person and virtual lessons to companies remain the backbone of our business. With corporate support, we can deliver low to no-cost programs to nonprofits and schools where we positively impact the next generation of leaders.

2023 will be a year of growth, a year of success, and a year of leaning into our power. Let’s stay in touch! As we innovate our programs, your feedback enables us to meet the needs of our growing community. We ask you to do your part in sharing our message and vision. Introduce us to your businesses, schools and nonprofits. Attend our monthly community events, quarterly online tournaments, install Poker Power Play and invite others to the table. There are so many ways to engage and learn with us!

Lastly, your referrals and testimonials are how we introduce more women to Poker Power. Please continue to share your comments and suggestions. On behalf of our entire team, I wish you and your families much peace, love and joy as we welcome 2023.
